Default 04 ES Rancher Shifting Problems

Hi, I need a little help. I have a 04 rancher es that is giving me trouble shifting. I was out scouting on my deer land today and after about 1 hour of riding and scouting the gear number started blinking on the display and i could not shift with the ES buttons. I used the emergency shifter and got it back to neutral. Turned off the ATV and turned it back on and it stopped blinking. It started working fine for about 10 minutes and started agian. It did it a total of about 6 times in the next 2 hours. It still workes but it is just a hassel to have to turn the atv on and off. I have had the es motor replaced right after i bought it. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me as to why iam having this problem.

Thanks

You have to count the number of flashes ..

It is a continuous flash. It doesn't just flash four or five times and quit, it keeps flashing. I will look at it today and see if it flashes and if i can count the flashes.
Thanks for replying to me so quickly!

ok, The number will flash 3 times. I hope this will be able tell someone something. Also can i put a manual shifter on on my es rancher? I am just wondering if there would be any long term disadvantages to using the shifter insted of the es.

Thanks in advance

just change out the angle sensor on the front of the crankcasing. don't go manual as the fix will cure it.

My 04 did the same thing. Replaced the angle sensor and it works like new. My dealer was able to include it in a recall action which cost me practically nothing.

thanks for all the replies. I will work on that. Back to the manual shift. I just want to know if i decided to go manual would it hurt it. Reason i ask is i hunt and have to use the atv on 2000 acres. It is very ruff terrain so i have to hold tight to my rifle so because the gun rack still lets the gun move. I would just like my left hand free. Thanks for all the replys!!!!!

Get a different rack for your gun, or adjust the one you have. My bow or gun doesn't move in my rack. And my rack is just the standard u type. If you turn them you can make everything fit snug.
