Should I buy a 250x??

250x's are pretty solid quads, I had an 87. We beat the crap out of it and it never let me down. They are very good trail bikes and I have seen them for sale around here for as cheap as $500, running too.

i have a 250x and i love my it nimble on tight trails and has enough low end torq to climb the steep inclines without fail. would not take a four hundred ex because i can keep up them in tight spaces and even out perform them in most cases. the only advantage they have is in the straight away. i personally love my machine even though its twenty years
old.
old.

i got my 87 250x running again yesterday. it sat for a year along with my outlaw. funny thing is its a 25 year old quad and it runs better then all my others. its very reliable and it handles great. i always felt like it was a little small but the size makes it extremely easy to lug around. power wise its not too bad. its a 250cc so it is what it is. cheap to build and not really hard to find parts for. mine was a barn find and looks rough and like i said its my best quad. their cheap because their old, not junk imo...

What's wrong with a warrior??? 6 speed gearbox and reverse from ANY gear! You don't have to find neutral to hit reverse. Should be on every quad by now. Not saying the warrior is the best, but it definitely has some selling points. I don't like that the warrior is long, narrow, and heavy.
I used to have a warrior and a 250x. I still have a 250ex. A friend has the 300ex. Another friend has the LT400.
Personally, I have no use for a 250x. If you have one already, great, but I would't go looking for one. Pretty much anything will outrun it. Its no fun to kick. It doesn't handle any better than anything else. Its not that light for a kick start quad. There's just nothing I can say about it to make it stand out.... other than it has a 4 valve head and is made to rev out. Big deal.
The 400 sits too tall and is too heavy for me. If you're going that far, might as well get a raptor or 450. I think out of all of them the 300ex is the most fun. It has just enough power and is small and light enough to throw around. It will outrun a piped and carbed warrior.
The 250ex is the most versitile and nimble. Actually, its the most nimble quad I've ever seen! Has lots of low end grunt (for a 250) thanks to its teeny weenie carb mostly. Which also means its not going to outrun anyone, but will cruise along nicely in the lower 50s. Shaft drive sucks and I'm always looking for 6th and 7th gear. If your battery dies, you can't push or pull start it. The engine must be in neutral to start it without a mod you can do. The shocks have no adjustment. There is no oil filter. Its a pushrod engine. But, will stop and turn on a dime, you can always count on it to start and run, you can beat the hell outta it and it keeps going, and it is a fun machine to slide, jump, and wheelie on. I'll never sell mine. My friend actually went looking for another after he bought the 1st one. He liked it that much.
