Anyone did this and are either pleased or dissatisfied? How does a 440ex do against the Raptor? Has anyone traded a 440ex for a DS650 or some kind of polaris that is fast? Just want some advise. I really like my Honda and a new quad has to be really great for me to give up the speed and reliability of the Honda name.

Stay with what you have. Your last sentence sum's it up best" do I stick with the speed and the reliability of the Honda". The Yam is a big can of worms and the Cannondale is a big ?. It could be good or it turn out like the bike. Stay with something that works, or unless or just want to get something new.

I dont consider myself to be a "Honda man" nor do i pledge aligence to any brand of quad. I have always gone with what runs good. Everyone knows Honda 400ex is a quality machine, but no one can say that the Banshee is a P.O.S either, yeah it is a 2-stroke but a quality product nontheless.I had a 99 400ex and was very happy with it, sold it to buy a 99 Banshee. Kept the Banshee and bought a Raptor, and I have no regrets in doing this.I think stock for stock it is very hard to beat a Raptor. They run a little faster than the average 440ex, and you can do the same suspension work to them that you can to any other quad, plus you have the added bonus of reverse and 660cc worth of displacement to play with. As for the Cannondale, I dont know, If i like it better than the Raptor Ill sell it to got the Cannondale. And if Honda decides to make a 500cc 2-stroke quad(God willing), You can bet your a** that ill be in line for that one

I have a 426 with a cam, 10:1 compression pistons, wb rev limmeter, big gun, one tooth up in the sprocket, and my 400 would beat a raptor by a little it. handels better does better wheelies keep you 440 honda makes nice qauds but the raptor is nice
Not dissing the raptor just stating my opinion

Thanks for everything guys. Just needed some info from "real" people. I can't get rid of my 440ex because I'll lose too much money if I try to sell it. And I don't have any more room for another quad. Ride Hard, Ride Red!

I will give you my insight on the fx400. It will out handel a 400ex. Low in power like a Rap. Top ends like a shee. Jumps like a 250r. You have to look real good at this quad. This is a race quad!! Production numbers will be low. Price is high. Go riding all the time. THINK 12.5 compression $6.00-$7.00 a gal.for gas! Just a little over kill for everyday rideing.I know this for a fact, I own one, I love it, but I'am glad I have other quads to ride.

RACERJIM,
I just looked at a Cannondale this weekend and it has a sticker right on the gas tank to use 92 octane premium gas. Why do you think it would be necessary to use race gas? Do you really own a Cannondale? I am very interested in buying one and if you have one I would like to hear what you think.

I don't think you will be test riding the FX you seen in Akron. That quad belongs to me! #5 the first to the general public. #1 is a pro/type,#2,3,4, to the major mag. for testing. I let Randy at AllAmerican Wheels use it for display. I had it for around 2weeks now. I had it orderd for over a year.
I don't care what that sticker said!! 12.5 compression gets racing fuel. I use VP/C12, buy it by the 55gal. drums. The same fuel my race cars use. Really at $6.50 a gal. I would't use it if I did't think it need it.

PS. I'am running a H/C race this weekend,I will let you know how at goes.

Out at a riding area this weekend there was a 440ex with tons of mods. This guy was seriously fast! I raced him and lost, my buddy with his toomey shee and 18cc coolhead beat him, the 440ex beat 4 raptors in one race and and 310R beat him.

It was great to watch everyone race, and there were tons of people there that day. I just have to remember to keep my camera with me at all times! I got tons of pics but at that time when they and us were all racing it was back at the truck, grrr.
