Default thinking about getting a 700xx..opinions?

i am thinking about getting a brand new 700xx. can you give me your opinions on the quad? anybody ridden it? i have been debating over that and the raptor 700, but the raptor is just too much money new and i wasnt planning on taking any chances on a used one.

i ride mainly open areas, roads, and trails.

I have yet to ride a 700XX but have seen them in action at a few of my local riding spots. (IE Wooded/mountain trails and MX tracks) They seem to be a nice machine for trail riding and cruising on open roads. I would love to get some seat time on one someday. The only problem that I see with them is that they seem to be kinda piggish (Heavy and awkward to ride at speed) compared to a Raptor. The way I see it right as of now is that they would be a fun quad to ride and own but then again I would not trade my Raptor for anything as it can do it all and do it all well!

Just out of curiosity where are you trying to buy a XX that is less than a Raptor????

I think like a lot of folks, you may be just looking at the number "700"! The Raptor and XX are very very different machines, for very different conditions.

I see the XX as a specialized machine for those who constantly ride rocky, rutted trails. Everywhere else, it is a fish out of water. There are clearly tradeoffs you have to make with IRS.....like it is big and heavy.

The Raptor on the other hand, is a good all-around machine, and 100 pounds lighter. I however don't like its ergonomics.

A 700xx M.S.R.P. at $8500 while a Raptors suggested retail price is only $8100. So either your Honda dealer is giving you a deal or your Yamaha dealer is pulling one over you.

It makes sense the 700xx should cost more than a Raptor with its IRS rear suspension, and larger rear wheels.

The 700XX is faster than a stock Raptor. When riding it you can't even tell that it is a 500lbs machine. The body roll takes a bit to get use to. Like recon said, the raptor has got some goofy ergonomics, of course that is opinion. The XX has plenty of power on tap at all times. but it is a very smooth power band.
