Default main jet

I know the factory main jet for a Recon is #95 and the honda dealership said nothing is offered from Honda that's any bigger (for the recon). Does anyone know a brand and size that is one step up from the factory main that I could get? I'm running lean because I've opened up the air so I need a little more fuel going in. It does fine at idle-1/4 throttle but mid to WOT creates a lot of backfiring at letoff.

Dynojet and others make a jet kit for your machine, I believe.

I'm going to take the main in to the dealership because he said they have boxes of aftermarket jets. They only cost like $5 each so I'll probably get a couple of different sizes. I think the dynojet kits are like $45 so I think I'll save some money by doing it this way.

jetsrus.com has a pretty good selection. I've bought a bunch of jets from them and their prices seem pretty fair and they've always shipped them in a day or two.

What did you do to give it more air? Filter/pipe?
If it's backfiring when you let off the throttle, then look into changing out the primary jet first. Bump it up one size then test. This will give a small amount of fuel to all throttle positions also.

Might even try adjusting the air/fuel mixture screw before you tear into it.

The Recon carb should be a Kehin. Any dealer with a parts shop should be able to supply you with some replacement jets in many sizes.

FWIW......I have a dynojet kit in my 04 Recon and it carburetes great.....starts and warms up easily. The one nice thing about the kit is you get every you need including different size jets. I'm running stock exhaust and No toil air filter. The kits are usually plug and play if you follow the instructions.

Yeah, that's what I like about their kits too.

Pretty much if you follow their suggestions for the mods you have, it ends up spot on.
