I have seen more posts here about the older TRX200 models lately than I ever recalling in the late 1990s. Between that and the numerous rumors of a Honda 250 sportquad to go heads up with the Raptor 250, I thought I would once again share the TRX 200X prototype pic for those who have never seen it or headr about it.
This was built in 1991. It's essentially a 1987 ATC200X engine and rear chassis,..combined with a front end similar to that of a Yamaha Blaster or Banshee. The plastics and seat ofcourse were totally unique to this project.
One would have to admit, this would be an awesome machine to compete with the Raptor250 even if it is a 200 specifically because we know what that engine is capable of in modified form.
Keep in mind however that this was 1991 and the machine was built to go heads up with the Blaster.
Honda never brought this machine into the final stages of production though. Their main competitor at that time was the Warrior 350...more so than the Blaster was. So instead of releasing the TRX 200X, they took the 1992 TRX 250X,..adding a bit of stroke to it, added electric start, and called it a 1993 TRX 300EX.
It's too bad they didnt go after the Blaster back then because that 200X quad would be competitive against the Raptor 250 as well.

sportszillasheex,
There's been times I get on here and have two dozen messages or more,..especially considering I am off and on with using this site in recent years. Before that, I was responding to more messages than I was posts in the forum. Nothing personal, I but rarely read through all my messages on here unless I have alot of time to kill. My apologies. I've somehow founds lots of free time the past week though apparently so if you still got a question shoot it my way.![Smile](https://atvconnection.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
About the pic,..yes, I think it was in the Dirtwheels or ATV Action mag that ran that picture. We clipped the pic out and posted it on the bulletin board where it stayed up till I put it in a photo album a few years ago. I believe they ran the story on the new 90 in that same issue but I could be wrong.
hayesjo,
Yes, it's very cool. I put a 200X engine in a 300EX frame several years ago. (The 83-85 engine and not the 86-87 version..the 83-85 was slightly weaker). It actually did very well being as how much lighter the quad was. Ran real good in the midrange but you could tell it was only a 200 when starting off. I've been pondering a new project with one of my Cannondale frames,...just havent decided on an engine to run in it yet.
