Well it depends on weather or not you know the matinence on a 2 stroke and if you feel more comfortable on four wheels like you said then that is something to consider. I want a 400ex to but I am 15 years old and I got to thinking about it and I am not going to get the 400ex because I ride alot of tight wood trails and the fact of having no reverse made it impossible for me to get the 400ex and I don't want to spend that much money on a quad right now so I am going to go with the 2001 Honda Fourtrax Recon since it is not as expensive and it has reverse. I don't know what you ride so I can't make that decision for you. A quad and a dirt bike are two different things. I like dirt bikes because you can go through smaller trails but I like you feel more comfortable on 4 wheels. As for the price of the two the 2001 KX125 on Kawasaki's site is 4,949 I think and the 2001 Honda 400ex on HOnda's site is 5,699 so the price of the KX is better but you do have to add tax to that and all the other money robbing fees that the dealers have. BUt if I was you I would go ahead with the 400ex. I was wanting a dirt bike a while ago but I think they are alot of times a pain in the *** because every dirt bike that was two small for me was cheap but when I found on that was the right size it was real expensive. So good luck to you and your final decision.

I can't help you decide on whether to buy a bike or a quad, but I think you should look at the CR 125 or better yet the YZ 125 if you are getting a new bike. I am a die hard Kaw rider but I have heard bad things about the KX 125 and real good things about the YZ 125. Some of this is from the mags but most is from fellow MX racers.

Just my $.02.
