I have a SuperTrapp IDS 2 exhaust, Uni filter and a Dynojet Stage 1 jet kit. Right now they are sitting in the boxes due to fight between my Recon and a hill in which my Recon lost but hopefully soon I will be recovered enough to install them. I am wondering how many discs I should start off with in the IDS? I want to produce the most power possible up to the point where the additional discs are only making more noise and not gaining any power. I have seen several people list the IDS system in their sigs and I am wondering how many discs they are using and if they have any other advice with the project.

I have a recon with a Supertrapp and I put all the discs in and don't think it's overly loud. Something you can do to improve air flow is cut the end off the intake tube. You will get so much more air that it will lean out and you'll have to re-jet. I went to a 110 main and with the pipe and filter there's a big increase in performance.

Hope this helps,
SMC

Hmmm I may have wasted some cash then. It looks like the biggest main jet in the kit is a 92. The stock main jet is a 95. Do you think I should leave the stock jet in and just replace the needle or go ahead and put in the new jet from the Dynojet kit?
I think I will try all 12 discs in the exhaust to see how loud it is.

Well I have the exhaust on, it sounds Great but it is a little loud. After I do the jetting I may take a couple of discs out. Did yours have a strange smell when you fired it up the first time?

The jet kit you have will probably work OK as long as you don't mess with the air tube. If you cut the end off the tube a 95 main won't be big enough so I'd take the kit back.
I think all pipes smell funny the first time they get hot.

Thanks for all the help. I put the jet kit in today. I still have some popping and cracking when I let off the throttle but it did that before I started changing parts so hopefully tweaking the mixture screw will fix it.
I just can't wait till I can ride so I can see what a difference all this has made.

Wow that has to be really loud. Did you try the discs at all or did you start with none?

I'm running 12 discs, a 1 1/2 inch modified snorkel tube and 100 main jet. The Highlifter power kit that I bought comes with mains up to 104
