It could be a number of things and as you can tell I'm no expert lol.
If you put the plug in the boot and touch it to frame or metal do you get a spark???Because if you arent when you do that but do without the plug,I would try a new plug first.

93 is fine for 12:1 run it all the time in raptor 250 at 12:1, when we race i use 93 and vp 115 mixed 50/50 just so it runs alittle cooler and better throttle response

not real farmiliar with this bike ,but if the stator and triger are not wet ie;(in the engine oil) then they are dry with a side cover and gasket. check and see if there is rust on the flywheel from sitting . if so sand the flywheel and spray it all out in there.you can also sand the coil but don't sand the triger ie: pickup for spark timeing.

His engine is air/oil cooled. Not water cooled.

Right it is air/oil cooled. But could the head gasket still be causing that moisture to leak in?????Which the 400 is one of the hottest running 4strokes ever to me.Could it just be to thin of oil.I put 10w30 in it now and it seems to be doing better????But still just a little bit of smoke not like it was and it don't seem to be burning any yet????Thanks guys.I've got a baby on the way and just don't got the money like i did or i'd just tear back into it with no problem.I'm just trying to get it right without that. Thanks for the help

Its not what you want to hear but I would tear into it check all your gaskets and re-check your rings. I dont think your valves have much to do with that but you could check them anyways. You could try changing your oil weight depending apon were you live and the temperature but 10w30 should be right. I don't care what any ones says on here but I would deffinatly switch off the pump gas with 12:1. Some people can ping with 11:1 on 93 and I run 93 on my 10:1. My 400 seems to run hotter than others I have installed a spall fan and it helps. With air/cooled engines you don't want them sitting around idleing to long either. As a rull of thumb if Im gonna be sitting for longer than like 30 seconds just shut it off.
