2003 Honda Recon TRX Vacumn Issues
#1
Hey Everyone,
I am new here and want to thank you up front for any help you can give me. I bought a used 2003 Honda 250 Recon. I have cleaned the carb several times and read the posts on idle issues. I swear that the hoses are not correct on this thing. Not having it before, I dont know what the correct location is for them.
I reviewed the carb diagram. I cannot tell where the hose which comes off the top vacumn diaphram goes, as mine is different than what it shows in the diagram. Also hose 21 and 22 are in questions.
Can anyone help me? I still cant get this thing to idle correctly.
Thanks!
Kasman

Thanks,
I think I saw that at one time, the question is, what is the end connected to the car go to? I remember a hose going up the Rt side of the tank. just dont know what port it is connected to on the carb.
Thanks for checking, driving me crazy!

Ok. I'll see if I can get a pic or something of mine tonight. I have a suspision that it's not what's causing the bad idle. Have you tried to adjust the idle jet? It's a real PIA but it has to be done. It's the one on the bottom front of the carb and you can't get a screwdriver in there very easily. I used just the bit from one of those quick change screwdrivers. It was still really hard to do though. Also, did you put a new spark plug in it? And even though you cleaned the carb, did you drain the gas out of the tank?

Yes,
Here is what I have done so far.
He said it sat for about 4 months.
I drained all bad gas. Pulled tank off.
Checked screen in tank and its good and not blocked.
Took carb off and have cleaned it 6 times w/spray cleaner.
Took all jets out, high, low, and pilot.
Ran guitar strings through all ports and made sure had full spray
Took float off, cleaned and reinstalled.
Put new spark plug in.
Have tried adusting fule mixture as you said, starting at 2 3/4 turn from full in, gonna try 1 3/4 tonight.
Have had it running, but still runs rough.
Found the throttle cable was bad, putting a new one in tonight.
Put a new choke cable on also.
Getting kinda frustrated.
When I turn in screw on bottom, going in makes it richer? or leaner?
