Default Riding in lower Michigan

I live in lower Michigan and there is no where left to ride anymore , oh sure if I drive for 2 or more hours we have some of the best trails in the country but one has to make that a day or two trip, but where can I go just to ride for a couple hours or so. ( If anyone reads this that could tell me how to go about getting the State of Michigan to open parts of Allegan forest I would appreceate it , cause they sure aren't very helpful)

Well, you don't say where you're located in "lower" Michigan.

Farthest South I know of is Bundy Hills (South of Jackson), next...moving North and East is The Mounds in Genesse County. Continuing North I believe you're looking at DNR trails all the up through the UP.

Been trying to get there myself for about a month now and something always comes up.

Hope you're able to get there soon and you enjoy it.

I think the lack of any other responses pretty much says it all....Bundy Hill is the only place this far south.

I did make it out there Friday after work. Went by myself and that's never as fun as going with others but I did enjoy it.

Keep in mind...it is a old gravel pit (some of it appeard to still be in operation).

This is what I told my wife when I got back:

1. Not as fun as riding up north (for me anyway).
2. Don't get to confident on ANY trail...lots of washed out drop offs or sudden washed out steep inclines right around tight corners.
3. Definately ride around and try to see the back side of anything you're going to go up. Again, steep drop offs or inclines.
4. If you buy a flag there (or have one I guess) anticipate the flag getting ripped off the whip....low hanging branches on some of the trails.
5. Depending on the area you can get into some pretty big rocks to avoid.
6. If I was younger I would have enjoyed it more. Not gonne lie...my ***** have shrunk since having two little kids running around the house.
7. I'll go back

Hope that helps.
