Ok I am new to this site,but have read a lot on here you guys are very helpful.


Here goes.....

I have a Honda 400ex that I needs a piston....From what I have read it seems to be stock,but the guy I got it from....said when he got it,he was told it had a kit in it.So I am really stuck until next week unless you guys can help me.....

I have measured with a tape measure and came up with this....

Top of the piston is 3.5 (inches) ALMOST I am not the best tape measure reader.And when measure ROUND TOP OF PISTON it is 7.5 inches....

And what I am asking is what piston to get??And thanks in advance...

ALSO How much oil does this Quad HOLD??

BTW Any link to a manual I can DL?

 

Alexander you have a problem. Pistons are measured in thousands of an inch, (or mm). That is REALLY small.

The only way you can really measure is with a micrometer.

You might try cleaning the top of the piston. Over sizes are usually stamped in the top.

I can't tell you about the oil. Sorry.

 

Mine holds 2 quarts but manual says like 1.8 or somethin. 1in = 25.4 mm roughly so depending apon ur measurement you will have a 89mm piston, which is a 440kit, deffinalty take it to a machine shop or honda service/ delear to have it measured before you buy the wrong one.
