Borrowed an Arctic Cat 400
#1
I borrowed an Arctic Cat 400 fully automatic with fully independent suspension. I haven't ridin it on trails yet, just around the yard. I'll tell you what, this thing handles about as good as a slab of butter on a pile of hot broccoli. It is almost scary. Everything seems to be correctly adjusted on it but man o man, I am scared that once I get it on the trail, I am gonna flip it or something. Maybe it's the independent suspension. I have only ridden ATV's with solid rear axles. Is it me or does this quad suck at handling?

Well arctic cat isnt known for there handling LOL They usually sit high and boast huge ground clearance....To be totally honest the only IRS quad I have ridden that feels very stable is the RINCON.

A buddy had an AC650. Huge ground clearance, and it came with the suspension set at max preload. At that setting it didn't lean much on side hills, but rode like a brick.
Setting the preload down made the ride tolerable, but added some body roll.
However you set the suspension, it would really bump steer and fight you bad, especially if you were going down hill over rutted or uneven trails.
The IRS machine with the best dialed in suspension I've ever ridden is also the Rincon. It really handles well, can run over really rough stuff at impressive speed with control, and doesn't wallow or have excessive body roll on fast sweepers or side hills.
