honda fourtrax help!

couple things--
for starters after all of 30 seconds of running the oil temp light comes on, it dims and brightens depending on engine rpm, even when the engine isnt hot? bad sender or???
second-where is the oil filter? i want to say mine is an 87-its the utility version of the fourtrax 250, 2wd-
third-does anyone have a picture of the carb labeling what does what? i want to tune the carb but its in no way similar to the one on my old suzuki lt230e

so i fixed the oil temp light, think it was just a loose wire. still cant figure out what the tapping noise when running is, motor runs just fine, no vibration or anything, almost sounds like piston slap but it runs way too well for that. anyone have info on how to adjust the cam chain? i found the tensioner but i have no idea how it works...

the cam chain adjuster should be automatic, check your valve lash for your tapping noise. It could be the cam chain, but if that is it, it will need replaced because it is stretched further than the tensioner can tighten it.

The tensioner could have gone bad, also, but start with a valve adjustment.
There is a little cap on the side of the engine with 3 small bolts. It is round, with a little projection off to one side. The filter is under that.
Be sure to put the filter in correctly. Put it in backwards, and no oil will flow.
