400ex

hi i just bougt a 2002 honda 400ex and it burns through oil like crazy is that just how they are or is it maybe my rings, please help

No, they don't generally burn oil. Could be rings, valve seals, an oil leak, etc.

Well I only got it for $800, and I know the valves need adjusted in it

And it sat in the grauge for 2 nights and theres isn't any oil on the floor

Adjusting the valves will not make it burn less oil.
If it blows blue smoke it more than likely is worn rings and/or valve guides & seals.
A top end rebuild is probably in order.

Well I think I'm going to settle for a top end rebuild then, I don't think it was that bad of a deal, it has brand new tires on it nurf bars white brothers pipe k&n air filter and a skid plate, and it's jettet for the pipe

Sounds good for $800. Might cost you that again for a shop to do the top end and it would still be a good deal.

Well I found a really good shop right down the road that can do it for about $600 but I wasn't going to get it rebuilt if I didn't have to but it sounds like I have to lol
