That is the badest bike out there. I have had mine for over a year, and I can tell you that it is one tuff bike. get one I'm sure you will love it. just stay away from ITP Blackwaters. I hate the way they run. I have some mods on mine, check it out.

Got my 2001 450S about 3 weeks ago and I am very happy with it, it is as good a play bike as it is a work bike. It feels light and responsive even after installing a winch. The skid plates are not adequate and I have designed and built my own out of 1/4 aluminium. I was planning on putting 27" Blackwaters on till I read the other response to your post maybe he could give us more information on why not to install Blackwaters.

I put 27” Blackwater XT's on my 450s, and sent them back after I had two of them replaced. None of the tires could hold air. They (Rocky Mountain Atv) were extremely helpful with the return and refunded all expenses. They did tell me that they have had problems with the tires in the past due to their hard beads. As for traction, it was excellent! I was able to go places I could not other wise ride. So, if they could mount them on rims that would hold air, I would probable go with another set.

Hope this helps..

As for the 450s...you can't go wrong. You have or will be making a good choice.

Ride and ride often…

Hey thanks guys, I'm getting it for sure within 2 weeks, when it comes in. I can't wait. I have Titan 589s (25-10-12 all around) on my other four wheeler(Arctic Cat 400. yuck) that im trading in on the 450 S, which I am going to mount on it when I make the trade. If you are looking for the best all around tire, get the 589s! they are the best! I love them! They work in every condition, especially mud, and they give a smooth ride, too. The reason I am getting an S instead of the ES is because I like to shift, it is cheaper, and the ES is just one more complication to go wrong(even though I do have a strong trust for Honda reliability).

My brother in law has a 2000 model 450s with about 400 miles on it and has no problems at all. You'll do well with the foot shift, a few guys I know with Rancher ESs have had trouble. One of them would'nt shift out of second I think and ended up in the shop.

Why dont you like your Cat 400. Im just wondering the Cat 400 will out pull the 450's, but hondas are very good and if I was not getting a Cat 500 I would get a 450 in a sec...
Good luck with your new quad
Thanks

I've got the 400 which is practically the same as the 450 and let me tell you those things are like tanks! You just cant hurt them, my foreman has been to hell and back twice and it's running just as strong as it was the day i bought it.

I know many people who have Cats with no problems, but I have put over 1500 dollars into a 2000 Arctic Cat 400 4x4. I am also very agrivated with the dealer. I've had to have 3 new left crank case seals put in, have an electrical system revamp, a new rear output shaft seal, and now a new rear end. I am fed up. I had a Honda 90 before the 400, and I loved it. me and my Brother beat the crap out of it for 3 years, and it always ran perfecty. Thats why i want a HONDA! Ride Red!
