What features would you like to see on a small ATV Trailer? I would like to build one but I want input from experienced ATV Riders who know what they want in one.I plan on using 18-22" tires on it and have it no wider than my Quad. Any Ideas?

Rancherman,

I just designed and built a trailer for my two Ranchers. The trailer is a side load to keep the trailer from being excessively wide. The wheels are underneath to keep the unit narrow enough to fit in my garage and still allow room for the car. One side rail is made of two removable pieces that become ramps. If you'd like the details e-mail me and I'll provide them to you.

Richard.

I built a 4x7 trailer rear ramp and loading. I deck it with a sheet of weather rated plywood. It carries 1 wheeler and gas tanks. Make sure it has a built in ramp. I made my hinges out of 3/4"pipe and 1/2" round bar stock. The gate is removable.

We've got a 4'X8' trailer and put hinged ramps on the front and back. We can just drive 1 wheeler into the bed of the truck, then fold down the front ramps, and drive the other one up on the trailer. It works great.

Oh lol, I thought you were talking about a trailer to put ATVs on not a trailer to put on an ATV!

Geetings,

Well, not to stifle your ambition, but there are some very good, innovative ATV trailers out there. I bought one from Northern that preety much fits your description -- 22" tires, slightly narrower than my quad, dump bed, lift out tail gate, etc. Its very well made and costs around $250. Check out their site for more ideas, they have a wide range of styles and sizes -- even if you still want to build one you'll see lots of options.
