What oil do your run in a air cooled atv

Default What oil do your run in a air cooled atv

i have a 2002 honda 400 ex wut oil am i suppose to run in it???

10w30 is what i run in 300ex

Any oil that is NOT "energy conserving and has a JASO rating".

As far as weight goes there is a chart in your OM (and some oil bottles) that tells you the weight to run for the temp you ride in.

15/40 pretty much covers every weather condition I ride in so that is what I use.

i run valvoline ATV oil in my air cooled machines (2x 250 bayous)

I use mobil 1. There is a little lable on the bottle that says something like "wet clutch safe". Thats what counts. Or what doctorturbo said.

exxon 5-30 full synthetic after 600 miles on it it still looks as clean as when i put init i ride from temps 10 degrees to 90 degrees

I was just looking in my 250ex om and about anything 10w40 up to 20w50 is in the book, but 10w40 covers all temp ranges pretty good.

I would also consider Rotella T6 5w40 which is motorcycle (MA I believe) rated. This is synthetic.

I use 15w40 Plus 50 John Deere diesel oil in my 1986 Yamaha BW200. Oil is always clean and clutch never slips. Engine original, never been opened!
