I have a 2002 Rubicon that shows 2 dashes -- and no other indication as far as gear position goes. It does shift normal and rides normal, no ES shifting though. I changed the computer and gear postion sensor and still no gear indication, did the steps outlined for the manual to retrieve the codes and reset the computer but no luck.
I'm stomped, please help. Thanks.

 

I am having a similar problem with my 2005 Rubicon. Only mine does it off and on, it is not constant like yours.

You say it shifts fine in automatic mode and not in ESP? That is strange, whenever mine shows the two dashes, it does not shift at all.

I was thinking the gear position switch or the angle sensor. But the angle sensor tested good so who knows.

I will keep an eye on this thread.

 

Yes it does shift forward and reverse bogs down somehow, but no shifting in the ESP mode, hopefully someone with similar problem may jump in and help us figure out this problem. Thanks.
