Yea, and you need to hone and bore the cylinder to... Disassemble it and take the top end/head to a machine shop. Figure out what it's bored to, have them clean it up real good for you and find out what the next bore size is up.
Go to wise-co, and get yourself a new top end rebuild kit. Simple stuff , a kid could do itas far as the rebuild.
Few hundred dollars later your good to go.
A shop will charge you more than what you paid in parts just to do the labor!
Get the point? Good, and good luck.

The bore is just the hole your piston moves up and down in (the jug/head) Boring your cylinder makes it bigger and gets rid of any deep scratches etc... Honing/polishing comes next as in after the bore is finished you want to hone the cylinder to get that smooth mirror shine. So when you put your new piston kit in everything runs smooth.(top end rebuild)
Basically metal is removed from the cylinder walls (where the piston goes up and down) of the block. This can be done for two reasons: 1) to remove scoreing (scratches) or 2) to increase engine displacement (make it go faster)
You can not bore your own engine. It must be done at a machine shop. An easy way to find one is to just look in the yellow pages under engine machine shop.
This is a very basic explaination. Hopefully it should help you ask follow up questions if you do not understand.
Crank is bottom end and a whole different beast!

Make sure there are no issues with the jug your buying... Why dont you just use the jug allready on your bike and have it machined? Just take it to your local dealer let them do the machining, ask them what size piston kit you will need. Buy a ring compressor and you should be ok.

^^^Enter your year I entered 2001 . When you get it machined, or use the jug you bought simply just print that out, have your local dealer measure the bore size. Look him dead in the eye, and ask what one will I need?(mm)
