Default 84 Honda TRX 200

Hello,
I have a 1984 Honda TRX 200. I just replaced the battery, spark plug, and cleaned the carb. But after a problem of it running but not having enough power to pull itself up hills it completely quit running. When it was losing power it would smoke black. And then one day it just up and quit. Yes, there is fire to the spark plug. Any ideas?

Black smoke is oil burning, your rings are probably shot. Do you know how to do a compression test?

by "quit" do you mean quit running, or quit moving. If you meant quit running, then I would agree that it's probably a compression problem. If you meant quit moving, then I would maybe look at the clutches and/ or the tranny.

Probably looking at a rebuild. I have 3 (and a half) of these and just had one rebuilt. If you enjoy riding it and plan on keeping it for a while, a rebuild is cheaper than buying a different one with its own set of problems.

If you chose to replace the bike... you wanting to sell the '84?
