Hi, and thanks for any comments on this . I have a 2000 Recon and when it idles it does fine ( w/o choke on) but then i give it gas it just spits and sputters then dies. If I put the choke on though, it doesnt die and rides normal except it doesnt rev high like any atv w/ choke on???? please help if u can!

Does it do this all of the time or only when it's cold out? OR does this stop once the quad is warmed up?
When did this start, after a modification? Maybe if you give a little more detail some of the carb gurus (which i'm not) can help you out a little.

My 2000 Recon did the same thing... does it only do that when your warming it up? Mine continued on only for a short time and then settled down. When I first purchased it, it would idle funny for a long time, the hubby did something to the idle screw and fixed it. I will ask him tomorrow what he did and get back at ya!

Whenever the choke must be closed (except when cold) in order for it to run, it's telling you that it is not getting enough fuel for the amount of air received. You did not supply any information regarding any work done recently on the quad or whether you added any air flow improvements. Hard to diagnose ailments without possible clues to go by or when the problem started.

hey thanx for all ur comments and help on this subject. I started it this morning and it kept doing it but it would idle just like before. I then let it idle for about 7 mintutes and rode around a little and it stopped. Also I looked at my airbox and saw a little crack/hole that was just big enough to probably let water in. I repaired it and it is running perfect. Thanx all for the help.
