Question Rubicon tranny issues

I have an 05 rubi and last year i was ridding it on two wheels and it lost power(like it was in neutral) blipped throttle couple times and it took off driving again. Now when i start it it will go in L,H,&R but when you give it gas it won't go anywhere. I've read that the honda matics are junk. How do you know if it's the centrifical clutch, pump, gear sensor, or the honda matic. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I will not be of much help to you but the Hondamatics are not junk. We have an 05 with over 10,000 miles on it and no problems with the tranny. The only problem with the Hondamatic is that they are not servicable if anything does go wrong, you have to replace the whole unit and that costs $1,000 plus.

Turn your key on and make sure the n shows up for neutral. If it does shut the key off hold the shift buttons down turn the key back on then immediatly release the buttons and push both down again for at least a couple of seconds. This will flash a code if there is something wrong. Watch the gear indicator it will flash once then after a pause it will blink 1-13 times if i remember right. The blinks will be quick so pay attention. Let me know what code it comes up with and we will go from there. It sounds like the angle sensor but we will see. Hope this helps!

I did and it blinked five times which my book said angle sensor so I did all the trouble shooting and not the angle sensor after I put everything back together now the gear indicator is not displaying or flashing a code. Is there a way to tell if its the automatic trans or the clutch?
If I rev it and throw in in reverse it lunges back ever so slightly, but hi or low i get nothing, any suggestions?

I have replaced serveral ECM on the early models.....It's is under center rear fender just above the trunk....Is Atv charging ok?These unit are real sentive to voltage...Got to have 12.6 dcv to work correct all the times....May want to check the charging system...Put an meter on batt at idle then after meter is hooked up then rev up engine bout half throttle while meter is on and see if the volts increase to around 13.9 to 14.3 then regulate to that and not keep increasing....If charging system is okay if it
regulates and not keep climbing...Good Luck get back with us after you done this test......
