I am just wondering how much power a 450S has. From what I have seen them do and the large tires on them it looks to me that they have a lot of power. I am just writeing to ask people that actualy have one how they like it. They seem to be the bike of choice when it comes to pulling power. Like in the November 2000 isue of Dirt Wheels they have the monster tire shoot out, and the bikes they use is the 450S. So I have come to the conclusion that the 450S has a lot of power. Is this true or am I way off? But when you read the test of the 450ES on the ATVing.com website they said that some long hills may require shifting in to super low first gear, and I do not want that. I have a 400 Scrambler and I am going to sell it to get a utility bike to put 27 or 28 inch tires on and I want to make sure that the 450 has more than enough power to pull these large tires. Any responses would be of help.

Thank you,
Phillip

you'll be fine if you put 27 or 28 inch tires on it.. stay away from the 28" vampire edl's though.. i would go with the outlaws or titans if u dont' want to loose much power.. u might consider a K&N power kit also they give you 15% MORE POWER!! let me no what you think.

Hey Philldogg. I do a lot of my riding in central W.Va, pretty good size mountains down there I.d say, the power of the Foreman S is amazing, have not been in a situation were I've (powered it out)or had to use 1rst gear unless the terrain is just rough you need to crawl over it,with stock tires that is. Just put 27" ITP 589's on it, can't wait to get it back to the mountains to give it the power test with larger tires, can't tell much difference here on the flat lands. I think the 450S is a great machine, you don't seem to here their owners complaining much, hope you get one, you'll like it!

I looked at your pics, and I really like those tires. They seem to be the tire of choice right now. I was or am thinking about getting 27 inch tri/bi-claws for the bike if and when I do get one, what ever it may be, but I also took in to consideration the 589s. I want an all out mud tire but I also want a tire that performs well on regular hard packed ground (dont we all). So I really think that the 589 is the all around best tire. But I have yet to hear much about the 589s in a mudding enviroment. So when you get to try your new tires out in the mud please tell me how they do, and how the power of the bike does with the 27 inch tires.

Hey Phildogg, finally got to do some extensive testing! The 27" 589's are almost unstopable in the mud, though I contribute some to the full lenght skid plate on my machine. You do have some power loss in the real sticky mud, I've finally have a use for 1rst gear. Still the 450 has plenty power for this application. The only downfall is the stiffer ride of the 6 ply tire ( which is debatable that ITP is a 6 ply) they make the stiff riding Foreman even stiffer! But I feel they are well worth it, in the rocks you don't worry about pinching a tire and they will run flat. I think the tires are definitly worth the money. Did you trade in the Scrambler yet? Do you ever ride in Wellseville, Oh.?

Hey Phildogg-- Most of my riding is done in the foothills of the APPALACHIAN Mts.--Trust me, the 450-S has adequate torque and H.P.!!!! I ride often with a Rubicon, and go anywhere it does.

Hey pyromaniac442, the switches are double throw's, so each switch has two functions. Left side down is direct power to a reverse light, up is keyed power to the winch seliniod, I didn't like having power to the winch seliniod all the time! Right side up seperates the driving lights and the accessory headlight, I do a lot of night riding and like to be able to turn off the upper headlamp when I am carrying something on the front rack. Right side down basically tricks the bike into nuetral, so it will start in gear. On very steep hills when you have to shut the bike off for some reason ( hooking up a winch line ect.) it is difficult to get the machine back into nuetral. Ride safe!
