What is your question? I take it your referring to the counter shaft which has the front sprocket on it. Free play in and out is normal. Dose the transmission shift?

I disassembed the motor and found my shift drum and shift forks were pretty worn out. I bought a complete transmission and drum on eBay, bought a Moose complete gasket kit, oem piston and rings, 2 intake valves (I cut new seats), spark plug, uni airfilter. The 300 run and shifts like new now. And all that was under $250!
