Default new here 300ex mod questions

hello all i am new here and have a couple questions. i have a 2000 300ex and love the quad.it currently has a k,n filter jetted spot on,fmf megamaxx full exhaust and 38-13 gearing itp rims with swamp llight tires, holeshots on the front and a dg phat series v-pro bumper. i am looking to get a little mor umph out of the motor and i was reading up on some stuff. my questions are i am looking at a sparks x-4 exhaust, rev box,400ex carb and a cam.would i notice a decent diffrence with that versus my setup now?. any input is welcome and thanks in advance. also selling the exhaust and such if anyone is interested.

Whatever you do to it it's still going to be a 300ex. I agree the sparks pipe will sound better, but i doubt if you could get any worthwhile power gains for the price of some of those mods. The cdi-box won't benefit you unless you have a pretty built motor as i've been told.

Changing the gear ratio will get you the most bang for your buck. Go to a 12 in front for quicker acceleration or a 14 up front for more top speed. Rocky Mtn. sells those gears for less that $15. I had a 12/38 on my old 250X and loved it. But I rode where I needed quickness, not top end.

Suspension mods will make a big difference as well, a set of used 400ex a arms, longer tie rods and you have a 2" wider front end, then get a shock adaptor kit and put the 400ex front shocks on, almost 2x the travel of the 300ex stockers. in the back, a 2001 Raptor shock will bolt right in, I think a Warrior shock will as well, they both have compression/rebound adjustment and much more travel than stock. I did those mods to my sons 300ex along with gearing, tires , modded air box and +1000 rpm CDI, properly jetted, ran great, also put a good used +4 adjustable Durablue axle in back, that thing would slide around corners with almost no wheel lift, when my son out grew it, sold it to a guy at work, his boy is regularly beating Warriors and other quads with it, not with raw horsepower, but the ability to run corners and rough spots at faster speeds, while everyone else is slowing down for stutter bumps and sharp corners, he is flying over them and railing around corners with the throttle pinned. Its not all horse power, its being able to control it as well.

I wonder if you could run 450r shocks with that kit? reason i say is because the 400ex guys can upgrade to 450r shocks.

the makers of the adaptor kit would be able to tell you, but I would think, if it will fit the 400ex, it should swap out as well.
