Default 01 400ex no linkage swingarm? how to? help?

Might be getting a no linkage swingarm with elka for my 01 400ex, what mods do i need to do to make it work.

Please don't make this a discussion on if the link or non link is better, just help me figure out how to do it.

Never heard of such a thing?
Do you have any pics and what are you trying to accomplish by doing this?

I've never heard of it either till i stumbled upon it on ebay, only reason im interested is I need a rear shock, and standard linkage elkas are pricey, this has a elka with the no link swingarm, i researched it and stumbled upon one thread talking about the idea but that's all. The seller said he would explain what needs to be done if I asked, so I did, and I'm awaiting the response.

Looks cool. What do you expect to gain from running a set up like this?

Well, you gain some simplicity in the suspension, generally at the cost of either low speed plushness or bottoming resistance. A properly tuned linkless system can perform quite well though. I am thinking the OP is looking to get into a nice aftermarket shock on a budget. I will say with that setup, you probably won't get the best performance unless you work with a suspension shop to get the valving/spring rate correct for your weight and type of riding.

You are exactly correct, I looked at the listing due to the low price and elka shock, I plan on getting all my parts ordered and put on the bike so I can finally run it, and throughout its life I will send little by little parts out to get powdercoated etc etc. when all the little stuff is done I will pull the bike apart one last time and get the frame powdercoated, during this breakdown I will have the shocks sent out to be set up to my weight etc. I also plan on running stage 1 LT elka's on +2 LT arms.

Sending the shock out might have to be the first thing you do. I know when you just install aftermarket links the rear sock does not preform correctly.
The swinger does look bad a$$. Is it stock length?
