Wink ATV rear seat

my Honda rancher TRX420TEA ES owners manual says, this atv is not designed to carry passenger. What do you guys suggest. Can I buy a rear seat and use it occasionally to take my SH in to the woods?

There are plenty of aftermarket cargo box/rear seat combinations out there. So, technically, depending on NC state laws, you can have a passenger by getting one of these boxes. Is it as safe as a dedicated 2-up machine with a longer wheelbase? No. The 2-up machines have the driver and passenger ahead of the rear axle with a longer wheelbase. More stability, especially on hills where it would be much less likely to tip over than a single rider machine with a passenger seated above or behind the rear axle. I've seen plenty of single rider machines go end over end with a passenger but not seen a 2-up flip that often. So, depending on your state laws (some require a 2-up machine for 2-up riding) it's a safety issue more than anything. The sticker on the quad is mostly the manufacturer protecting its backside.

I have thousands of miles with a passenger without the buddy seat. My Grizzly came with one of those seats it was the first thing I sold. Plenty of room for someone on the back of the seat of the ATV without that thing taking up all the rear rack.

At most I give the person a pillow on the rack.

Thanks MooseHenden and TLC.

I will check the NC rules/laws for buddy seat/seating. I will try to ride my atv with my SH to see how it feels before going on trails.

Vow TLC, you have just saved me a couple of hundred on that seat. Buying a rear seat is cancelled now. Nice photgraphs you got.
