Honda 300ex help?
Hello there,
Okay so here's my issue, my little bro is getting a 400ex. I currently have a 300ex. Anyone know how I can make my 300ex faster than his 400? I've read other forums on here and know yall are just gonna tell me to buy a 400ex. Well I don't want to. I want to know what the best mods are for my 300ex so it will go faster than my bros quad. I currently have a k&n air filter. And a full DG pipe (which I am NOT happy with)
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

There is no magic mod for you.
Look into a slight bore with a higher compression piston. That would give you the power to run taller gears with taller 22" tires. Thus making you faster. Since you already have the filter and exhaust make sure the carb is tuned correctly. Then you will want to look into suspension mods. The 300ex shocks suck and should be replaced. You will also want a wider stance to be more stable.
Have you ridden your bro's 400? With the $ you put into the 300 to make it as fast or faster than the 400 you could just go out and buy a 400. The only other advise I can give you is terrain dictates speed. If you keep your bro in the tight trails the extra power he has is no good.

hey, well honestly i have a 96 300ex and it hauls ***. i can bring it to 105k/hr. which is faster than stock. i leave 500cc in the dust, these 300's are amazing machines, bullet proof engines and light weight and a semi short stance to help whip the trails.
a K&N is good as long as theres minimal dirt/dust. i recommened a UNI with the cleaning kit. if you really want to go faster without buying so many aftermarket parts just change your sprokect ratio go down about 3-4 teeth in the rear and maybe 1-2 in the front. youll loose abit of lowend but your topend should be aproxx 120k/hr. if u keep playing with it you can find a nice balance and probably atleast keep up with him. the mods you can do to 300's are endless. whether you want to put that much into it is your choice, like i did lol. people cant believe that mines a 300. keeps up and more.
what i currentlly have in my quad
UNI air filter
stage 2 hotcam
tittanium valves
RK timing chain
RK racing chain
hinson clutch
MSR handle bars
FMF full exhaust
FMF cdi
stage 2 dyno jet kit
moose racing rear bearing carrier
twist grip throttle
maxxis hole shots (rear)
