Help!!!
I'm at the stage now that I'm settled on the Rancher ES 4x4 and now it's justifying it for the wife and spending the $$$. Of course it doesn't help I just spent nearly 20k on a 4wd tractor, but the ATV would be a great fit for things the tractor can't/shouldn't/willn't do. We've got 85ac up in the Application mtns in Va that we haven't even seen 1/3 of it, because of the hills. But there's a lot of logging trails that would be perfect to ride/venture over. I don't want it for a "toy" but a workhorse.

She was the same way for many of my purchases, very resistant at the start, but then very enthusiastic once we put them to work. I caught the dickens for buying a gas leaf blower years ago(from Wal-mart noless) and in the last few years she uses more than I do. She even bought a small chipper/shreder a few years ago without hardly consulting me. That was cool...
She grew-up as a farm girl, but has a college degree and is in sales, and doesn't want anything to do with a "farm" anymore.

I just need some good ideas on ways to convince her that this is really a good idea. She says the dog house gets pretty cold these nights...

I didn't even tell my wife that I wanted a quad. We went camping with some friends that had some recons and motorcycles, we all went on a 20 mile ride in the forest in Utah. After the ride she told me "we need to get some of those, that was fun". Thats all it took, 3 weeks later I picked up the Ranchers.

If you have the money just tell her that you just need/want one.
Well, good luck! Hope you don't end up in the dog house, again.

Hmmm...I think I'll go buy myself a new quad.
Ahhh...the joys of not being married.

well, i guess im spoiled, i bought my 01 Rancher 4x4 Es loaded it on my truck.called my wife on the way home n "asked " her if she liked orange. She and the kids were putting up halloween decorations when i pulled into the driveway, and they clapped.

This Saturday im bringing her home a Recon, heh, heh, heh. (And YES, she likes red.)
I KNOW IM LUCKY, and we dance in the kitchen everyday, lol.
So buy your quad, surprize her put a big ole bow on it, and have a big box of Godiva chocolates on the seat,Women run slower while they are chewing, plus it throws their aim off, good luck brother ,remember who dares wins!!!!

Just do what my next door neighbor did...

He told his wife that if he could get a dirt bike... he'll buy her the boob-job she's always wanted.

personally, I think it he came out on top with that one... a toy and a new set of *****? go figure!

I am lucky also I bought my Xplorer 250 told her about it after I had bought it she was really excited her and I went together on the first ride, she was even more excited about the Sportsman, she new I was getting that. She loves to ride and does not say anything about my toys, I in turn do not tell her what she can and cannot buy, it works out great. No fighting ever on buying new stuff. We both work she pays for her stuff I pay for mine.

I got lucky too. My father and brother-in-law showed up at my place with 2 brand new kodiaks. Well I'll be damned if I was going to be the only one left behind when they went riding. I rushed over the the dealer and got myself an excellent deal since the family already bought 2. I signed the papers and then went to see the wife to tell her. She threw a doughnut at me when I told her. lol The best part is that now I have to fight to get the bike from her because SHE'S the one driving it!! Looks like I gotta buy one for me now. LMAO So Buy your bike and hope for the best!! LOL

I started with the idea of buying an old Landcruiser 4x4 and starting a restoration project. After considering the prospect of having truck parts all over the yard for a few years, the ATV idea starte looking pretty good ; and half the cost (8 years ago). My wife's response was "sounds great, as long as you buy me one too". Now we have 2 and go riding together.

I think Dave had the best advice - take her out riding with friends, or even rent if you have to. Once she rides she will probably like it. But beware, you may also have to buy 2.
