The blaster stock for stock won't keep up with the honda's. Especially the 400EX. I would spend the extra money for the 300EX over a blaster.

Don't listen to them. The blaster is an excellent little bike. That is more than capable of keeping of with the 300ex ir 400ex.Sure the blaster doesn't handle as well. But blaster are very capable little bikes. If you son gets real good at riding he might even be able to beat them.

I have had 2.I sold on to get a warrior and the other I sold for a ditbike but my mom took all the money!I wish I hadn't now. Both of them have been reliable and good little bikes.

moded out 86 trx250r

The blaster is a good bike for a younger person. But from experience I can tell you that if he rides with 300 and 400ex he will not like his blaster long.

My friend had a 2001 blaster and he rides with us, all having 400exs and Raptors. He only kept his blaster for 6 months before selling it for a 400ex because he couldn't keep up. He also is 6ft tall and weights 210 so the blaster was a bit small for him.

But it does have good power and decent suspension. The brakes are garbage though.

Stock on stock a blaster is faster than a 300ex but i dont think it would keep up to a 400ex or a 300 with a few mods(pipe, air filter)

I am about to buy a 300ex, but the blaster will keep up with both 400 and 300's. if your son is new to the sport it would be better for a 4-stroke like 300ex or mojave, the 2 stroke blaster will be a pain when you need to rebuild it every year
