I after a long search, found a new 250EX to drag race and just to compare. The first thing I found was different was the sporty shocks. Next i could tell the handling was a lot better due to the sporty chassis. Next I noticed the engine lacked a recoil starter that the Recon had. After a long comparison we hit the drag strip. I noticed on takeoff the 250EX had problems keeping its front tires on the ground. Nevertheless the 250EX whooped the Recon on the bottom end. During the first 150 ft the EX gained about 4 lengths in front of me. I was surprised to see that the top end was pretty much even and I even noticed the Recon was catching up a little at the end. If any other Recon riders raced/compared these two bikes let me know the outcome.

We have both. I recently put an FMF MegaMaxII pipe on the Recon, and I would say it is a good match for the 250EX. Eventually I will pipe the 250 also, which should really make it rip. For really steep hills, I still prefer the Recon because it deosn't wheelie out from under you like the 250 wants to do.

The more I read about the 250EX the more I think it is going to be a good machine. How can you go wrong? light, shaft drive, reverse, electric start uder 4 grand! gets good reviews in the magazines. and on here. Honda could have sold a bunch of 650ex's for sure but they will sell allot more of the 250ex's. I want one, and for me to want anything but a Polaris you know it is going to be a good and intersting machine. I think the EX will be a great woods machine, stick some blackwaters on the back for the mud and it should be allot of fun.

The 250 EX is a great bike. Had mine over a month now and have had it in the mountains climbing hills. Also have had it at the track. I havnt had much of a problem of it trying to wheelie on me and I have been up some steep stuff. Just remember to lean your butt over the handlbars to keep er on the ground when your going uphill. Depending on driver skills you can hang with the big boys with this bike. No, it wont beat them, I know better than to say that on this forum. Ride Red Baby.

zeebo; Are you saying that you have 300ex shocks on your recon? I wanted to try that combination on the front mine but, they were so long that I was bottoming my ball joints before the shocks were fully extended. I was afraid that I would break the joints if the front end came up too hard. Any light you can shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated as I'm not happy with the choppy ride I'm experiencing with the front of this machine. Thanks

Ok Zeebo, if I put all your add-ons on my 250 EX I dont think you would touch it. Have you ridden a 250 EX?? Its not the same recon motor, its improved about 10 % and this makes a difference, plus this bike has no racks. NO way you could take a stock 250 EX with a stock recon..Get real

Actually smarty my recon doesnt have racks so...
and anyway it is the same basic thing just 10% more power . And I never said that a stock recon could take on a stock 250ex so what are you taking about that for . And another thing i will take on you and your o' mighty 250ex any day a beat it so hardy har har !

oh ya And to the nice guy above you I do have 300ex shocks on it front and back And I made some custom brackets to raise were the shocks bolt on to the frame so there is no extra stress on my ball joints
