well i just bought my 2001 recon bout 2 weeks ago, and when i start it up it will go into first gear but it won't go into 2nd, but after i ride around in first and get my motor good and warm it will shift, and it will act alright untill the motor gets cold again? is this normal?

Our Recon always starts pretty well, just requires a little playing with the throttle and choke. Generally I like to feel the case warming a little before we take off. Never had shifting trouble though--maybe we're a little more patient? The Mobil 1 we use could also be a factor.

Mine is very cold natured when it comes to starting, but I have never noticed a problem with it having any trouble shifting. Often if the engine is too cold it will stall when I shift to 2nd but it never has any trouble making the shift.
