I'd like to see some head to head between it and the Can-Am Commander, and Polaris Ranger.

They do not give it their all when it comes to ATVs and SXS for some reason.

Yamaha and Honda have some crazy motorcycles motors and Polaris ,AC and Can-Am/Ski-doo have 150hp snowmobile/ PWC motors on their end.

These motors will never see a ATV/SXS for law suit reasons. Plenty of flat lakes for sleds and PWC to fly safely but not to many trails where 100+mph would be a good idea.

I can see where sustained speeds of 100km/hr might be obtained in large dune areas. People rip on sport quads with paddle tires all the time. I've seen some pretty insane engine swaps with turbos on side by sides. Yes, they're far from stock but people do build them and run them hard. This Pioneer 1000 could be a great platform to build something like that.

I usually don't trust the word of company reps when they make future claims but the same guys who called hondas release of this 1000 months before hand on the pioneer forum are also claiming that Honda will be releasing a lighter sport version of the 1000 for 2017 with LT suspension, fully adjustable gas shocks and more power. Take it for what it's worth but the SxS market is becoming so big that I don't really doubt it anymore.

Can't see it catching on up here so much, the ATV trails are mostly our off season snowmobile trails and are just to narrow for a SXS. To many sled bridges to cross and narrow sections.
Expensive machine for the limited place they can go.

I don't doubt it either. I always figured I would move to a utility once I started to slow down a bit, but after riding in and now owning a sxs, I don't see a need to buy a ute. It also seems like a few of the manufacturers are starting to slowly pare down the quad offerings as they add sxs models. With the value pricing of these Pioneers, I would really struggle to pick any utility quad over one.

Good to see Honda stepping up. Competition is good. I see tons of Polaris RZR's where we ride. The 50" width makes them almost as nimble as a quad and right about on par with the 2-up machines. Kind of itching to see what they come up with.

I admit that I've rarely been driving the utility ATVs since I got the little pioneer. It goes just about anywhere a 4x4 atv will go and is a blast to rip around the tight trails on. Whether I'm out getting the mail (1/2 mile driveway), working around the property or hitting the trails - I find myself wanting to be in the Pioneer. I will always have a soft spot for Atvs and I hope they continue to get innovated but I have no doubts that the UTV is the true "flagship" segment of the off-road world now.
