While riding at a local MX track a friend showed up with his 3 month old Raptor. He made it 4 laps and the thing died! Me being the nice guy that I am, pulled him back to the truck. I couldn't help but pick on him for not buying a Honda!

He was coming around a turn, hard on the gas(it was unbelievably muddy) and the Craptor started knocking real loud. Then just shut-off. He tried to restart it at the truck but it just does that loud knocking. It made it only 4 laps!!

Go [red]HONDA[/red]!!

Your post is clearly your own insecurity towards your atv. If it was'nt, you would'nt even have taken the time the post worthless information.

Maybe I will post SAVED A 400ex THIS PAST SUNDAY when I stopped to help a guy fix a flat this past weekend on the trail.....maybe I won't, seems pretty childish.

I have to agree with Garyc660r on this one. This was just an uncalled for slam on Yamaha. Craptor, huh? We all know that there are some issues with the Raptor (and every other quad ever made for that matter) but imagine how that poor guy felt when this happenned to him. Suppose he is reading about it right now. Personally, I would be pretty upset if that hapenned to me.

Since both of you are Yamaha riders why don't you both just go back to the Yamaha Forum and cry, this is a Honda forum isn't it?
Oh yea, I don't think a flat tire is Honda's fault!

Well, this is the first experience I've had with a Raptor(only saw them in mags. and one in the showroom). I've heard nothing but problems with these quads. First the carb boots. Which, by the way, this guy was a victum of already a month ago. Also, all these transmission problems. Needless to say he was pissed! And his warranty ran out 3 days ago.
I think that Yamaha should really step back and take a long look at the quality of their machines. It used to be that they had a killer motor(Banshee)just a not so good chassis. Now they don't even have that!
I guess nowadays Yamaha's to busy building 4-stroke MX bikes to really put much attention in their quads.

By the way, my 400EX may not be the fastest thing in the dirt, but it has ALWAYS started and never left me sit.

This post may not apply to all Raptor owners. If you own one and have never had any problems I salute you. Be sure to count your blessings and take good care of your quad.

That's probably the first and last time you will see a 400 EX in front of a Raptor.

Hey quad father i wouldnt be saying anything because your polaris wont ever run with either of these quads in any condition. By the way a 400ex on the mx tracks kick raptors A**'s. The raptors might win in a drag race but with jumps and turns they dont't stand a chance.

I have to agree with you retro, this is the Honda Forum. I'm a Bombardier & Polaris rider myself, but I do post in others if I have useful info. And this is one of those times. GO BOMB! Sorry had to do it. But I hope the knocking wasn't to bad and cost alot to repair. I hate when I have problems during a riding trip. As a wise man told me once, "I ate a 400ex & pooped out a Raptor". Really he said "ate a DS650 & ...." But I thought the 400ex sounded better here.

by the way, I was at nationals and saw about 4 raptors ahead of 400ex's in a race. You really shouldn't make such a blanket statement. It really shows your ignorance. To say one quad doesnt stand a chance against another on an MX track is just absurd. I bet you put Doug Gust on a 250 EX and he smokes you on an MX no matter what you ride. Quit being so ignorant and realize, it is more rider than quad! I prove it, I have a warrior which everyone says are no good for MX. I placed 2nd overall in District 14 MX and 1st overall in the faircross series. I beat plenty of 400ex's, 250R's, Banshees, and anything else that was out there. Dana Creech started racing on a Blaster and wasting EVERYONE! Learn what you are talking about before you talk!
