I want to put a small 6 pack rack on the back of my 400ex but am afraid that it will require cutting holes in the plastic for the front clamps. I will only put it on for long trail rides so I can cary extra gas. I do not want holes in my fenders when I take it back off. Does anyone have one or know of one that does not require cutting holes to mount? Thanks for any replies.

I HAVE ONE ON MINE AND IT BOLTS RIGHT ON TO THE STOCK BAR WITH A PLATE ON TOP AND ON BOTTON- I BENT IT ONCE BUT IT'S NOT A BIG PROBLEM TO FIX WITH A LITTLE HAMMER..
AND SERVES IT'S PURPOSE WELL......

Check out there Armidillo out and back rack, it does not require any cutting of the plastic or subframe. They work very well. Comes with a 1 gallon gas can and a spot to put a small cooler.

I have heard bad things about the out-in-back rack bending the frame/sub-frame because of too much wait hanging off the back of the quad.

The DG six-pack just clamps on the existing rack. No modifications necessary. I take mine on or off all the time (takes a couple of minutes). It's a little larger than I would prefer though.
