Yet Another Won't Idle Thread

Pull the slide out,pull the coiled spring up and hold it. Look down into the carb and you will see a curved spring that sets on top of the needle and clip and holds them in place. The circlip can be raised or lowered in the needle slot positions. Raising the "clip" actually lowers the needle deeper into the needle jet tube which in turn lowers the fuel slightly at an idle to about quarter throttle. Lowering the "clip" does the reverse,raises the needle in the needle jet allowing more fuel at and up to quarter throttle or so. Look at Item # 2 on the illustration. If you don't feel comfortable messing with it,let someone that knows how take a look at the carb.

Thank you! I'll give it a go tonight. My neighbor has been around a carb or two so I can always ask him if I get in over my head.

*sigh* Moved the clip to the lowest position (it was at the third from the bottom before) and it actually made it harder to start, but had no effect on the idle. May have to break down and bring it into a shop.
