Electrical help on my 400ex
#1
Hey Im almost positive my battery is dead, but I also blew a fuse. I changed that and now when i turn on the key and hit the start button i get this click click click sound coming from around my battery. It isnt my battery, but a little bitty circular box just to the left of it. I dont have a clue what it is or the problem. Also, when the quad was running i could turn the key and take it out and it would stay running until i flicked the kill switch.
So Basically:
Does anyone know what wires I have crossed?
Does anyone know the box I was talking about? and what I could do to fix it? is it just my battery being dead?
What about the key thing?
Thanks alot

check and see if any fuses are blown and if there arent any your solinoid might be screwed up. but if none of your electric works at all its either your battery or youve blown a fuse somewhere you dont know about. my friends lt300 would do this from time to time and a ground wire on his was messed up.

yeah,,the problem is common. Thats why on the 2001 they now have a rubber cover that goes over half the battery and that solenoid. The solenoid is sticking and you have to keep hitting the start button to finally get it to start right?
You will probably have to replace that to fix it,,and if I were you I would order one of those covers that are on the 2001s or make something yourself to try to keep water off of it.

Alright hopefully this is good news. I just jump started my quad off of a car and it crank right up. So that tells me my battery was dead and the sylinoid is fine, right? And second if you ride around long enough, will it get some more juice in the battery, or do i have to buy a new one?

How old is your battery? Batteries do need to be replaced sometimes. Buy a [RED]NEW[/RED] one, or borrow one from a friend first.
