I have a 300 & I was wondering if it would be cheaper to put a 330 kit on mine r would it be better to just get a 400. Also about how much would a 330kit cost. thanks

I would get a 400.It would be alot cheaper to do the 330 kit but it also makes it alot more unreliable.

I disagree, if you just install the 330 kit (piston and sleve) it will be just as reliable as stock. All your doing is increasing the displacement and you're not getting radical by any means with the engine. It'd be a great sleeper.

One of the great things about the 300EX is it is a well ballanced machine. It's got just enough suspention to handle the speeds it's torquey little motor can put out. That is, unless you start trying to hit big doubles or smash through whoops. If you pump up the motor very much at all you'll totally overwhelm the stock suspention and make it alot harder to ride.

AFTER changinf from a 250x to r. I thought it would be power difference and that is all. The suspension is so much better on the r. Get a 400 for the suspension.

of course it would be "better" to get a 400ex, and it would be "cheaper" to get the 330 kit. the question is, what do you want? what can you afford?

to do it right the 330 kit would cost you about $1000-1200.
lets see if off hand I can list whats required to do the job right.
piston
sleeve
bore job
hardend rocker arms
heavy duty clutch springs
oil cooler
cdi box
pipe
port and polish

of course you could leave out some things, but I think thats where you will run into reliablity problems. case in point; leave out the oil cooler and incresed heat could do some serious damage to the motor.

probably the one thing you could leave out is the port and polish job. but, you should be able to get all that stuff for the price I said.

i love my 330..with all my mods it runs like crazy. I did what i thought was best for me. I didn't want a 400ex everyone owns one..!

as for an oil cooler being manadtory. Run heavy weight oil, and good quality oil..20x50 maxum i'm running right now.

O yeah, I forgot the cam.

of course you could leave out some things and get away with it with some creativity. the oil cooler was just an example I was trying to use. of course in a perfect world everyone would have all the cash they wanted and would never have to comprmise.
