So I've had 2 400ex's, both had problems one smoked and other needed a head gasket. Now I have around 4 grand to spend on a bike and I for sure want to get a Honda, only because I heard the yfz isn't too reliable not too sure though. And I was wandering what would be a better choice, a 400ex or 400x, or a trx 450r. I will be doing trails and also open sand riding. I want the power of a 450 but I also want something that will last me a good amount of years. So what would you recommend, thanks.

 

Also how long do you think a newer trx 450r would last me and long as I'm not going full throttle all the time and beating the crap out of it.

 

I have a 2006 400ex. Bought it for $850. It smokes a tad on the top end but runs like a champ. I would try the 400x. 450r has no reverse and are more to maintain.
