About how many miles per gallon can I expect to get on a 2001 Rancher 4x4 ES? I know it depends on how I ride but does anyone know the ranges.

Can't give you a MPG figure, but the Rancher has a large fuel tank. My impression is that the mileage is pretty good. I do know that at the end of a long days ride, everybody else is running on fumes, and the Rancher still has a quarter tank left.

For trail riding (no swamping, racing, tearing, etc) I consistently get 40 mpg (Canadian). The bike is stock other than I have 1/4" toe out and 6 lbs of air in the tires.

When I first purchased my rancher, about a year ago, I did some trail riding in West Virginia with some freinds. That day we rode over 80 miles and I didn't have to put my bike on reserve until the last half mile of our trip. I'm guessing that I could have gone roughly 100 miles total on a topped off tank if I had to.
