I JUST BOUGHT A NEW UNI FILTER FROM A INTERNET SITE AND NOTICED THEY ALSO HAD AIR BOX VENTS A SET OF 6 IS 8.95. IT SAYS SIMPLY DRILL A 1" HOLE IN AIR BOX LID AND PUT VENT IN. THE VENTS THEMSELF HAVE SMALL FILTERS IN THEM TO REDUCE DIRT. IF I ADD SOME TO THE LID WILL I REALLY NEED TO RE-JET MY QUAD. THIS IS ON A 96 TRX 300 4X2.

There is a slim chance, If it was my 4 wheeler I would re-jet it, but if you want make the holes and run it without re-jetting it and see how the overall performance is, if its bad, re-jet it.

Do these cause more water to enter the air box?

Thanks

Discovered that trick about the second year I began OHV on my Honda. About 1990 I suppose. Been going off road two three times a year since then and not a trip goes by that Im not glad I did it. Doesnt run faster but it is a heck of a lot stronger. A couple of times while crossing fast deep streams I worried about water getting in but it never happened. On my bike the breather intake is a little lower than the box itself so I think the added holes actually allows the higher end to suck air while the normal intake is under water.

exrider, I've got those vents in my air box. Unless you live at high altitude, it doesn't make alot of sense to increase intake without adding more fuel & exaust flow. I went with the K&N filter & jet kit, Outerwear, vents, and Supertrapp exaust and got a noticeable increase in power, especially in the mid range. I havn't had a problem with water in the air box, but EX's aren't really the right machines for deep water fording, anyway. You can use foam filter oil for the vent filters, which repell some water.

An important point in light of the other posts: Most of my ridding is above 4000 feet.
