Anyone have Axis Shocks
#4
Custom Axis are owned by Penske Racing Shocks and are no doubt, the best constructed quad shock on the market, the spare no expense in building a true race shock. I have had PEPZPS, TCS SCS and now the dual rate Axis rear and there is no comparison. I did have to adjust the preload and sag when I got it, and they are expensive. I am not sure of your application, if you don't plan on racing, you might opt for a cheaper shock.
You can check them out @ www.customaxisshocks.com.
If you go to a GNCC, check out the Pros quads, almost every one of them are running Axis and if they didn't work, they wouldn't be using them.
I still have PEP ZPS fronts, but I am saving money and then will sell my fronts to get the AXis. Now that the rear feels so good, I realize how much better the fronts should feel.
Good Luck, Nick

Yes upgrading your shocks and springs will make your quad soak up hits better. My rear is set up for XC, so the spring rates are a little different than what you would have for MX, but they still soak up the hits.
Pre-Load is how much tension is on the spring at rest. Sag is how much the shock compresses from fully extended to when you are just sitting on the quad, this difference is "sag".
YES, I think $750 is a great price for dual rate adjustable, ** BUT **, make sure that shoc connection is not selling you something off thier shelf that isn't setup for YOU and Your riding, quad, and your weight. I would order direct from Custom and talk to Mike, I believe you will get the same price. It definately wouldn't hurt to call him and ask him about shoc connection's setup and price. I have heard of some questionable service from shoc connection on this site, but still wouldn't hurt to call.
