where exactly is the plastic melting? around the pipe?

sometimes aftermarket pipes come too close to plastic and melt it.

I don't see how the motor could get that hot to melt plastic..

First of all I don't have the money for an oil cooler. Its melting near the kickstart molding (250x cut out). The headpipe is about a 1/4inch away from it. I can't stand this cobra anyway. It is a cobra jet and it just may be me thats its hot but I know one thing. Its not supposed to be that close and melting plastic. Is there anyway I can get a temperature reading of the oil?
