hi guys. im having a little trouble trying to decide which atv to piick. i know that the banshee is liquid cooled and its two stroke and it has no revrse.im also aware that a 400ex is air cooled ,4 stroke with no reverse.i know the banshee will probably beat it in a dead drag race. but what about on a track or in trail.most of my riding is done in trails, rocks, some mud.
i want to know which one is a better pick or is there a better bike out there besides the raptor or the ds 650. thanx for any comments.

I'd go with the 400ex but thats just me.. its a 10+ yrs newer design/etc... Its got the reputation of the "best handling STOCK atv being produced" Certainly there are faster but if you have tons of power and cant control it you wont ride very good or have as much fun compared to a little less power and a machine that handles alot better that you can REALLY put the hammer down (cuz you are in control, not the machine)..

As for the "which is the best quad made" its ALL about you, what you feel comfortable on, forget what the others say, go with the one YOU LIKE. Most people on here will say their quad is the best thing since sliced bread and none compare, well its all BS.. Take them for a ride (if you can) go with the one that feels the best.

Hi,

I agree, it is best if YOU could drive both, and then choose what YOU want. However, this is what I can tell you. I have owned a Banshee before, and they are deffinatly great quads, no doubt. I have never driven a 400ex, but I had my first encounter with one this past weekend. I know 100% that the Banshee is faster (stock vs. stock). However, it does feel somewhat akward to ride, especially when you are in tight trail conditions. It's great if you have a nice open space to let her scream, but the powerband is a little weird when you are going slow, and trying to navigate through the woods. Personally from what I have seen, I would say that the 400ex is better suited for all around riding, and it really does look sharp. If you want a rocket (or something you plan on modding), get a Banshee. If you want something that is a good all-around quad get an EX. It's up to you to decide. I hope that I didn't say anything misleading, this is just my opinion. Good luck.

Hey I've owned them both. The banshee is one fast bike but the maintenance can be a pain and the reliability of the banshee is dreadful. I bought mine used in Sept. 2000 and it blew up in March. The carb and air boot separated and that was all she wrote. Bought a new 400 ex in April. I love the bike. No real maintenance, it goes places where the Banshee would never even see and it's four stroke. No mixing and no screwing with the carb.
