how fast will a bone-stock recon go? do they accelerate very fast compared to other quads in it class?

top speed is about 45. and they accelerate pretty good for a 250 utility quad. they also have good power.

 

I read that they do 38.5 mph but that doesn't seem correct. My honda 250ex has the same engine but it is supposed to have 10% more power. Also the 250ex is lighter than a recon and my 250ex will go 52 mph.

 

We measured it several times using a GPS and found 46mph to be pretty consistant.

 

the day before yesterday I was racin this polaris that does about 60 but I raced anyway...the recon is faster on take off but we got up side by side and we went the same speed so he could clock me and while we were goin right by each other his speedometer read 51...and I was right there beside him...I weigh about 125...does this sound right b/c thats what happened.

 

Except that analogue speedometers are rarely accurate once you get past 25mph or so... Polaris ATVs are known for having slightly messed up speedometers.
I'd go by a GPS reading before I'd go with a speedo reading.

 

My Recon goes 48.6 (per a Garmin GPS) and I that was at an elevation of about 8300ft where there is about a 25% loss in horsepower.

hey kraig...I have a gps too..a garmin etrex, and thats the same reading that I got...except I got 48.7...lol..wanna race??
