I need to know if $4300 is a good price for a used 2000 400ex. I looked at it at the best Honda dealer around. It looked real good except the plastic has a few tiny scratches. How can I tell if it was thrashed or not? It has new tires and the grips look brand new.

 

look at the bike for wear on the frame and motor side covers.you should be able to tell by the way the bike looks. some wear is ok but lots of wear the bike was rode alot . not that riding the bike alot is bad but it will show more wear. look at the bars and thumb throtle for scraches to see if it was rolled. make sure nothing looks bent. ask the dealer if it was purchased there new. if you are unsure wait for the next one they are all over the place! oh listen for noise from the motor and ride it even if its only in the lot.
