Just wondering what exhaust system with spark arrestor you guys have found make the biggest difference on the 400ex, the best I have found is the Big Gun exhaust system, which claims to add 7-8 hp to entire rev range. I plan to add jet kit and filter as well, I would also like to keep it a little quite. Any advice is appreciated.

We have the FMF Mega-max on our 400EX, It made more power, isn't to loud, came with a spark arrester, and already broke. The weld where the pipe attaches to the silencer, came apart. Easy to fix but annoying, none the less. I have seen many 400's with the Big Gun system, a couple of shops use them on their race bikes, they swear by the power, but they are louder than any pipe I've heard on a 4 stroke. Go to a local track, find a Yamaha YZ400 with one on it, you'll see.

My buddy has the Big Gun exhaust. It is very loud!! He loves it! It definately gives it more low end than stock. I just bought the DMC Dual system for mine but I don't have it on yet.

 

I thought the Big Gun was supossed to be the quietest. Thats what they claim and what the magazine guys said

 

just wondering if anyone has heard anything about the trinity head pipe and silencer...if so what does it do compared to the ever popular white bros. and fmf power core 4?

The Big Gun is one of the loudest exhausts I've heard. If your looking for quiet than I'll sell u my hardly used stock pipe.
