NO!!!!! there is NO lag time whatsoever between hitting the throttle and spining wheels on the rancher!!!!

the polaris' have a log because the motor has to get to a certain RPM before the clutch engages the belt. The rancher being a 5 speed manual shift doesn't have this lag.

The rancher is, in a sense, perfect.. You have made a great decision on picking a rancher. I bought mine last July and I have had no problems what so ever. The torque and speed this thing pushes out is incredible for a 350class. I just suggest you buy the ES.. (and the 4x4 but I dont know what you will be using this for) you get a great computer with a speedo/odo/hour/clock/gear display. Also some sweet floorboards and its so much better then foot.. You can slam powershifts with no worry (I dont think I have ever let off the throttle to shift lol) well I hope you like your atv, actually I know you will.

Peace

Well, we got the 01 Rancher last Friday and we tried it out over the weekend. It has been raining alot and it was a great dust free couple of days of riding. The Rancher is a great Quad. I think my son will have alot of good times on this machine. Got a great deal also.....$3,950.....out the door. Still won't hang with the Wolverine!!
The dealer was right about one thing tho, that is the sharpest turning Atv I have ever ridden.
