Has anyone seen a CR500 vs. a quad?

I had a YZ 490 and rode CR 500's and them little 250's and such are ok on the MX track but when it comes to hills, mud, water, sand pits and such they're just little toys. A totally modded out alcolhol burning banshee or such might stand a chance but nothing else even comes close. As far as 100+ miles an hour-what a joke. Where does this crap get started. high 80's, low 90's tops without changing sprockets. Oh yeah. they make paddle tires for dirt bikes too. Quads-know your role! run away from CR 500's and such.

i may be smoking something,,but your shooting up. A modded 400ex will beat a CR500???? You have to be kidding. Obviously you have never ridden a CR500. I have never clocked one but read in a magazine the top speed with changing the gears was 128,,but that was from the always 'scientific' magazines, lol.

But there is no quad that will keep up with a 500 in a straight line drag, unless it has some crazy loot in the motor and that.

Hold on here a minute!
I don't have any CR500 experience. But I do know that about a year ago Dirt Bike mag. tested a Husaburg 610 4-stroke desert bike with ZERO motor mods, just a pipe and a smaller rear sprocket. They clocked it at about 108mph. And that's a 4-stroke.
I also had a Suzuki TS250 2-stroke dual sport bike that would wind out in the low 90's(ok, so it was geared for the street!)
The point is, you folks riding 500's may be going a little faster than you think you are!

Simply put, after getting off a CR500, practically any quad will feel like one of those little plastic, battery powered kids toys.

Now, that said, have you ever ridden a CR500, or a CR250 for that matter? Do you have any idea what you'd be getting yourself into with a 500cc 2 stroke bike? They are absolutely NOT for an in-experienced rider looking for a "fast" bike. They are heavy, powerful, and difficult to ride - even more difficult to ride effectively. Unless you have a specific need & experience for a 500 class bike, stay away.

You are an insane man (Probably Kid) don't even compare any quad to a CR500, there isn't a quad made that could beat a new CR 250 never mind a 500. Next time break the Ritalin in half I think you are over medicated.

OK, first hand experience. Me on my brand new 2000 400EX. My neighbor on his modded CR500. Expert rider that he is, he would give me huge head starts and smoke me, whenever he wanted. Being the adrenaline junkie I am, I had to ride the 500. We traded, same results, I'm not sure how much a CR500 weighs and I'm not sure about the horsepower, but I wouldn't be surprised if the weight isn't about 2/3rds that of a 377 lb 400EX and the horsepower is double or more! So you do that math and you'll find out, there is no way in any conditions (except maybe, greasy slimy mud, so bad a two-wheeler couldn't stand up) would a 400ex or comparable quad be able to compete with a CR500. It's definitely a man's man's bike.

Misfit,

I get a kick out of guys like you. Your EX can beat a CR500???...

...according to you it also probably cures cancer, solves world hunger, and redefines gravity doesn't it?

Race a CR500 sometime - you will think the chain came off of your little farm implement.

If you are going to lie about how fast your quad is, at least make it SEMI believable.

i don't have any experience with cr500's but this is what i think about them. most people think they are crazy fast right off the showroom floor. and they are, but not as fast as you'd think. their only a few miles an hour faster than a 250. but thats because they need a different gearing to get the crazy speed their capable of. instead of getting speed from em your just getting crazy fast acceleration. thats what i think at least. correct me if i'm wrong.
